Fitness Bootcamp's Cornelius Lovelace to Present March Stories in the Forest

Cornelius Lovelace reads to Caroline Lilly
Cornelius Lovelace, physical therapist and personal trainer who owns and operates Fitness Bootcamp Unlimited in Jonesboro, reads a story to Caroline Lilly, daughter of Mike and Elaine Lilly of Jonesboro. Lovelace will read at Stories in the Forest Saturday (1 March) at 3 p.m. at the St. Bernards Fun Forest at The Mall at Turtle Creek. The free program is sponsored by the Women’s Advisory Council of the St. Bernards Development Foundation on the first Saturday of each month.

Cornelius Lovelace, owner and operator of Fitness Bootcamp Unlimited in Jonesboro, will be the reader Saturday (March 1) for Stories in the forest, a program sponsored by the Women’s Advisory council of the St. Bernards Development Foundation.

The March storytime will be held at St. Bernards Fun Forest at The Mall at Turtle Creek.

Lovelace will read “The Gym Teacher from the Black Lagoon” by Mike Thaler. The book is a part of Thaler’s 10-book Black Lagoon series, each of which encourages youngsters not to judge a book by its cover, not to accept everything someone else tells them at face value and simply to learn to judge things for themselves. The story explores a youngster’s fear of meeting a new teacher … in this case, a gym teacher called “Coach Kong.

Two lucky children will take home books, compliments of Barnes & Noble.

Stories in the Forest are monthly events sponsored by the Women’s Advisory Council of the St. Bernards Development Foundation and generally are held at the St. Bernards Fun Forest at The Mall at Turtle Creek. In addition to giving parents some quality time with their children and exposing children to some favorite books of local residents, the storytimes have an educational focus, with printed materials available for parents.

Stories in the Forest is an outgrowth of the Women’s Advisory Council’s tremendously successful Kidz Fun Fair. The 2007 Kidz Fun Fair featured Walt Disney World magician Brian Staron and drew about 2,000 people. The fair offered health information as well as entertainment and other activities.

The Women’s Advisory Council is a group of about 120 area women who have joined together in an advisory role to give input on important healthcare issues impacting women and children. They encourage educational as well as service outreach efforts designed to make Jonesboro a better place to live, work and raise families.
