Tickets Now Available for Runway to the Cure Fashion Show and Luncheon
Tickets are available to the fourth annual Runway to the Cure Fashion Show & Luncheon planned for Friday, July 24, at St. Bernards Auditorium. The event will benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure Arkansas and will celebrate the lives of women who have battled breast cancer.
About three dozen local models – more than half of whom are breast cancer survivors – will take to the runway in two outfits each. One will be casual, while the other will be dressy or formal. All clothing, accessories and make-up will be provided by Dillard’s, with the models having selected styles they consider appropriate for themselves.
Not only will there be missy and women’s clothing shown, but also men’s styles and even some children’s clothing should tempt shoppers.
This year’s style show and luncheon has been kicked up a notch, with more seating, a different look and other new features. A rearrangement of staging has increased seating capacity. Planners say those attending should expect a high energy, emotionally charged show that will be more fun than ever.
One of the highlights of the show will be the unveiling of the 2009 Pink Warriors T-shirts. Members of the Foundation of the Arts Curtain Up Kids will model both the Pink Warriors (the women’s version) shirt and the Pink Warriors Three Miles of Men shirts, giving luncheon attendees a heads up on attire for this year’s St. Bernards Pink Warriors team at the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Arkansas Race for the Cure in Little Rock in October.
Tickets are available in VIP seating – the two rows closest to the runway – for $30 each or $150 for six tickets. Tickets for regular seating are $25 each or $120 for six. They may be purchased at the St. Bernards Development Foundation office, 400 East Street, or on line at www.StBernardsFoundation.org or www.stbernards.info (then click on the St. Bernards Development Foundation on the right side of the page).
Last year’s style show raised more than $4,000 for Susan G. Komen for the Cure Arkansas, an organization that has made grants to St. Bernards for a number of years to help provide breast health services to qualifying women. This year, A Breast Assured grant is helping St. Bernards provide mammograms, breast ultrasounds and breast biopsies to Arkansas women who have no insurance. It also provides a care map for newly diagnosed cancer patients.
Another grant provides clinical breast exams and screening mammograms to a limited number of Arkansas women who are underinsured. It also helps with education supplies and interpreters.
St. Bernards Healthcare and Dillard’s are serving as presenting sponsors for the 2009 version of Runway for the Cure. Other sponsors include The Foundation of the Arts and AY Magazine. Jim Frigo from the Triple FM radio group will serve as emcee for the 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. show. | |
