 The Jim Johnson Orchestra will entertain at the 2009 Evening of Music | The 2009 St. Bernards Development Foundation's annual Evening of Music dinner and dance will be October 29 at St. Bernards Auditorium, 505 East Washington Avenue.
The black-tie event will begin with hors d'oeuvres served at 6 p.m., followed by the dinner and dance at 7 p.m. Jim Johnson and his orchestra will perform.
This year's honoree will be Arkansas State University President Dr. Leslie Wyatt.
"Dr. Wyatt made great strides in all areas of the university including academic excellence, initiating new degree programs including new PhD programs. His guiding hand has helped reshape the Jonesboro campus in both form and function." said Ben Owens, president of St. Bernards Healthcare.
"Les has assembled an outstanding group of chancellors who have had similar impacts upon ASU campuses around the state. He has worked tirelessly to attract new funding sources that have leveraged expansion in nearly every major program including the newly dedicated Donald W. Reynolds Center for Health Professions, and the Delta Center for Economic Development, plus exciting expansions in nearly every college."
"Dr. Wyatt has invested time and energy in attracting and developing a new generation of leaders while working tirelessly to secure the needed funds to drive the growth across the system's campuses."
"His efforts at the state level have positioned ASU as a significant player in academics and research, which will imprint the entire state's higher education system benefitting Arkansans for generations. Dr. Wyatt's contributions extend beyond higher education as he lends his leadership abilities for the betterment of hundreds of thousands of Arkansans," Owens added.
Wyatt is the 10th president of Arkansas State University, appointed in 1995. He serves as chief executive officer of the ASU System, which includes four campuses, seven degree centers, 12 distance learning sites and technical centers.
